Balancing Business & Motherhood

Star Castle Studio provides soul-centered entrepreneurs with tips and custom-created visuals needed to beautifully run a professionally branded business and make an unforgettable impression online.

Intentionally ‘switching hats’

As an entrepreneur, it’s important to own my power, embody my purpose and stand in my personal sovereignty. Attracting my dreamiest clients requires me to show up fully and boldly be exactly who I am. This CEO mindset works well for getting the job done, but it’s not always what my little one needs of me.

My secret to “doing it all” is doing ONE thing at a time.

I’ve found it’s best to be 100% present in whatever it is I’m doing.

So as a mom, that means not checking my phone notifications or work emails during family time. I switch into ‘mom mode’ by putting business on pause, so I can be truly present in the moment and give my little one my full attention.

As a business owner, this can mean letting Dad take over instead of merely setting kiddo up on my ipad while I’m on a client call. As a Taurus, it’s not always easy for me to ask for help, but I’ve learned from experience that I’m only able to do my best work when I’m not trying to balance everything at once.

Cultivating a nurturing environment to help my clients & their dreams flourish

As a mother, I focus on creating a nurturing environment for my little one where she can safely explore and learn who she is. I take on a listening role, giving her space to grow while reinforcing good behavior and providing a sounding board for any obstacles that surface. I’m asked to be silly, unedited, simply be present and play. Every day, I’m lucky enough to watch her flourish and expand her boundaries and viewpoints while offering guidance when she needs it and when she asks for it.

I foster a similar space of safety and reassurance when creating a new brand for a client. I help them dream big and get clear on their vision, whether he or she is just venturing down the path of entrepreneurship or hoping to take their soul mission to the next level. My deep-dive branding process provides a unique container for clients to play and explore what they’re looking to create, allowing their true vision to flourish into an unforgettable brand while sticking to an aligned timeline.

My clients and my work also need a nurturing environment with open dialogue and active listening to help each project reach its ultimate goal.

That’s why I’ve developed a space to allow my best work to flourish and easily tap into the deep spiritual connection to each individual client’s dreamiest vision. I work to be accepting of the ever morphing, evolving design requirements and requests that come my way. Keeping up a healthy back and forth with the bright souls I encounter in my business keeps the flow of positive work in a state of progress that everyone involved can be satisfied with.

Designate spaces for your various roles

The easiest way I’ve found to switch between my ‘mama bear hat’ and my ‘boss hat’ is to use boundaries of physical working spaces as a mental cue. Most of the house has been taken over by my little one and her toys... By creating a designated office space, I can physically step out of the hustle and bustle of the house and intentionally step into my business, Star Castle Studio.

It’s important that your workspace reflects the vibe you want your business to portray (whether or not anyone ever sees it). That’s why I‘ve created a mystical oasis of inspiration that represents my work and what I offer my clients, and the end result is an on-brand energy vortex! Regardless of what’s going on in my personal life, it’s easy for me to snap back into business mode simply by walking into my office space.

I also frequently work in my garden, to separate me from the household full of tasks (anyone else have a sink that seemingly magically replenishes dirty dishes?). Working in my garden opens me up to the positive energy of nature and helps declutter my mind so that I can enter my work flow state much more easily.

Try out a few places, see where you work best, and designate that as your work area. You’ll be amazed by how fast your brain will start to associate that space with productivity!

Having a dedicated work space or office also leaves your living space free to be a place to decompress from work. You can physically shut the door to the office and fully step back into the role of mother, wife, or whatever other title you go by!

As much as I love being a soulpreneur and building my brand, I love being a mom and wife too! I also love being my own authentic self – so it’s important my home has space for all these facets of my being!

I’ll be honest, balancing business and motherhood is an on-going challenge, but I’ve set a lot of ways to keep myself steady on this tightrope! Feel free to also checkout my blog post about 5 easy work/life boundary hacks for more ways to find balance.

It isn’t always easy to find my footing but it’s always worth it to try my best– my business and my kiddo both deserve it.

My little one, Lily, is the best ever and I love her so much!

While ‘Mommy’ is definitely my favorite title, it’s NOT my only one.

Working to maintain a stable work/life balance ensures that I stay passionate about my business and am able to provide my most powerful design magic possible. I hope the tips I’ve covered in this post help you find balance in your own life, momma!
